Lawyers ask for adjournment in cobalt case

Legal counsel for Dr Tom Brennan, the vet charged in the Sam Kavanagh cobalt case, has asked for a six-week adjournment to investigate the effects of the drug on horses.

Chris Winneke told a Racing NSW inquiry on Monday, there are scientific questions about the effects of the substance on horses.

But chief steward Ray Murrihy said Brennan had previously warned an Adelaide trainer by text message in 2013 that cobalt was toxic and should not be used.
