The scratching of Fawkner on Wednesday after he drew a wide barrier had an effect on early betting and Boban was installed the $4.60 favourite.
He has eased since to $4.80.
New Zealand galloper Volkstok’n’barrell arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday night, but he too has been a little easy, drifting from $8 out to $8.50, but holding down second spot.
